In 2014, while researching my family tree, I found the census records from when my grandpa was a child. He grew up in rural Missouri and, over 80 years later, his house was still there. We took a roadtrip and got to see his house and all the places of his childhood.
A few years later, I found my great-grandmothers birth certificate. She had emigrated from Germany at the turn of the century but the house she was born in had survived both World Wars and was still standing 120 years later. We worked a visit into a train trip through Europe to see her house and the town she lived in.
